Twycross Zoo opened in 1963 on a site in Leicestershire. Initially a comparatively modest collection, it has grown into one of the major British zoos, attracting over 450,000 visitors a year. It is famous for its collection of primates. Situated near the small village of Twycross, the zoo occupies over 40 acres and is set in open countryside. Despite its rural location, it is only four miles from the M42/A42 (which links the M1 and M6) making it readily accessible from anywhere in central England. Throughout the year (we only close Christmas Day) the zoo plays host to a wide range of visitors from family groups on a day out to school children studying animals (our Education Department teaches over 15,000 pupils a year). In 1972 the zoo became a charitable trust concentrating on conservation and education, and now takes part in many captive breeding programmes for endangered animals (about three quarters of the animals housed at Twycross are officially classed as endangered species).

Stephenson College has four campuses across Leicestershire, based at Coalville, Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. The College conducts several basic and adult education courses, including Teacher Training courses. The course offerings are Accounting, Administration and Office Skills, Animal Care, Art and Design, Beauty Therapy, Business Management and Personnel, Health Studies and Counselling, Computing, Information Technology, Construction and Building Trades, Engineering, Gas and Oil, Hairdressing, Languages, Motor Vehicle, Sport and Coaching, Sustainable Energy and Travel and Tourism. There are special classes for disabled students.

This heathland course was designed by that famous man of Fife, golfer and architect, James Braid. The club was founded some years before Braid substantially re-modelled the course and many of our winter greens are those of the original 19th century venue. Whatever time of year you play Charnwood you will discover a truly mature and well-kept course. The 18 tees of this little gem of a 9-holer offer variety of yardage, shape, and elevation thus requiring the golfer to pay close attention during both circuits. Being heathland the course is well-drained and remains open when many other courses in the county are forced to close.

North Warwickshire & Hinckley College is one of the largest providers of education and training in the Midlands. The College is based on two main campuses in Nuneaton and Hinckley, as well as outreach centres throughout North Warwickshire. It has seven sites:Atherstone Site, Bedworth Site, Hinckley Site, Bermuda Park Innovation Centre, Polesworth Learning Centre, Coleshill Continuing Education Centre and Learning Information Technology Centre. They offer subjects like:Business Studies, Computing, English Language and Literature, Geography, Mathematics Music, Media Studies and Music Technology and more.

Situated in the heart of the English Midlands, Cosby provides a challenging round of golf to both low handicap golfers and the more social player. With a par 71 and a length of 6438 yards it has attracted some of the best golfers in the area as members, with several members of the current Mens and Ladies County First Teams, as well as the individual Ladies County Champion. The Club celebrated its Centenary in 1995 and has since then undertaken major improvements to ten greens. Visitors are welcome Monday – Friday when they can be certain of a warm welcome along with full clubhouse facilities and professional services.
